By endorsing quality education of potential broadcasters, the members of the Alabama Broadcasters Association believe they are guaranteeing the future of quality broadcasting in Alabama. Toward that goal, the Alabama Broadcasters Association Educational Foundation was established to fund scholarships for promising students in colleges and universities across the state.

The purpose of the foundation is to encourage a higher standard of professionalism in the industry, foster a stronger relationship between higher education and the profession, promote a greater understanding of ethics and societal responsibility of broadcasters, and support potential and commitment in promising future broadcasters.

The Board of Directors of the Alabama Broadcasters Association voted to establish the Alabama Broadcasters Association Educational Foundation to further broadcast studies in the state and to administer ABA Scholarships.

Each ABA Immediate Past President will join the Foundation Board when he rolls off the ABA Board. The ABA Board's Education Committee contributes one member to the Foundation Board.

The Foundation Board adopted bylaws and elected additional members at its first meeting. If you have an interest in serving on the Board of the Foundation or would like to make a contribution to the Foundation, please contact Executive Director Sharon Tinsley.

The Board would like to thank Anne Wheeler of ABA Associate Member Johnston, Barton, Proctor and Powell for her work on the Foundation. Johnston Barton has graciously allowed Anne to give of her time without charging the ABA.
